Luxury Brand Economy Effect Essay

Monaco is a little nation, however notable everywhere throughout the world. Everywhere throughout the world it is known as a position of extravagance. Consistently a great deal of visitors visit Monaco to have a decent get-away visiting gambling clubs, extravagance cafés and off kilter to do a shopping in a generally known, extravagance brands. In Monaco you can discover a variety of extravagance boutiques for each taste; you can discover everything from extravagance vehicles to an extravagance garments and adornments. Throughout Luxury review administrations we concentrate a great deal about the administrations in extravagance stores. So our objective was to isolate into gatherings and to do a review of barely any stores. Our gathering was a large enough for such a crucial, we were thinking how to do it in a superior manner. What's more, when we got a smart thought. As indicated by the data we got during the class with Guillaume Rose, in Monaco there are a great deal of Russian moguls, and they are consistently â€Å"invited guests† in better places. So we chose to part our gathering on two littler gatherings and to analyze the experience got in Gucci store and in Celine which are arranged in the core of Monaco, close to the Casino and Hotel de Paris. I will impart to you the Russian experience. I asked my companion, she is from Russia, for some assistance in this crucial. Our story was that we family couple originated from Russia for my friend’s wedding and as we previously purchased another skirt for my better half we have to purchase another sack, which must be one of the last assortments. Furthermore, the second piece of our gathering was local French with two distinct situations in two stores. As we will see next we got somewhat various encounters. Gucci store review Firstly we chose to review one of the most celebrated brands on the planet, Gucci. At 12. 00 we entered the store. Prior to entering the store, we saw that the grandstand was perfect, with acceptable lighting, yet there were no merchandise uncovered. Entering the store, I saw that the fundamental glass entryway was all in impressions and it was only 12. 00. Heading off to the store and imagining a wedded couple, we were contending about the way that my significant other has effectively a lot of packs and for what reason she is searching for one new. Staff in the store saw us on the double and raced to the side waving their heads as a welcome. Just the watchman who was close the enter welcomed us in an extremely considerate structure. We were strolling through the shop for 3 minutes and a half and it gives us a decent chance to consider the store. We saw that the meeting room was perfect as it is required, yet there were insufficient light, it provides for the store a much prepped look. And furthermore no music and even no new blossoms in the store. Following 3 minutes and a half we meat a sales rep who welcomed us and presented himself as a David. He asked us a couple of open inquiries so as to realize what we are searching for. After he listened our story he was intriguing as far as we can tell with Gucci brand. We imagine that we don’t know anything about Gucci. He revealed to us some data about the brand about its uniqueness and legacy. After that David proposed a couple of packs, he clarified the estimation of that model and brought all the hues for that model. Likewise he ensured that the model will be in a pattern for the following not many years. What was not so much generally excellent it’s a thoughtless treatment of the sack and he put them on one major store. Also, what dazzled me especially is that he even don’t show the internal piece of the sack, on my assessment it is essential to know how it is inside the bah which you are going to purchase for a major measure of cash. As I was imagining a spouse who isn't generally glad to purchase another sack, I got some information about the markdown, and I find a solution in extremely affable structure that there is no rebate at all in Gucci store in Monaco. My imagining spouse was requesting that I purchase the sack she loved and I was solid on my feeling. So an after that exchange with my significant other he proposed to book the pack till the night for the case on the off chance that I will alter my perspective. This was extremely amiable from his side. However, he doesn’t go with us to the entryway and didn’t offer to giva us a business card and to directly down us into the clients database. Absolutely we spend in the store 26 minutes. Taking everything into account I can say that the experience I have gotten along with my imagining spouse was far not the same as the French understanding of my gathering mates. Celine store review. The subsequent we chose to review was the Celine likewise arranged in the core of Monaco. Our story was the equivalent, we were searching for a pack which will be acceptable to my â€Å"wife’s† new skirt which we have purchased for a wedding we are welcomed here in Monaco. The grandstand was perfect with acceptable composition of certain merchandise. At the point when we entered the store we saw staff talking together close to the money machine, albeit every one of them welcomed us in their store. The zone of the class was spotless , there were sufficient light, giving a decent look to the products spoke to in the store. Following a moment and 20-30 seconds of holding up we meat a seller, she was Russian so we had the option to communicate in on our local language. It intrigued me definitely, so I was prepared to purchase everything in that store. She was posing a ton of open inquiries, to get more data about our needs and it was extraordinary, on the grounds that after that she proposed a couple of models which were confronting every one of our needs. She was very tuning in, so it encourages her to comprehend our requirements. She clarified everything about the item, how to clean it and how to utilize it to leave it in another condition. Obviously she esteemed the model and indicated a couple of others and various hues. She knows the material and the cost for that sack without looking anyplace. In any case, what upset me she didn’t talked about the brand, since we don’t know anything about that brand, then again, actually it is an extravagance and costly brand. As the sack we loved the most she proposed to book it till the following day noontime, with the goal that we can consider buying it. She remains graciousness even on account of not accepting that pack. She put our names in database and proposed her assistance for some other issues. She goes with us to the entryway and wish a decent day for us. We spend in that store 23 minutes and the felling resembled we go through there close to 60 minutes, the experience we got in the Celine store was extraordinary debate of certain minutes. End As our gathering was separated for two littler gatherings so as to look at changed encounters. As Russian gathering visiting the Gucci store we got very nearly an extraordinary encounter. Focuses to improve, I would prescribe to put a few items on an exhibits, it is expected to clean the passage glass entryway and if there is such a need to clean it consistently. They have to place more lights in the store, since it was excessively dull. Some new blossoms will do just a decent job and some delicate music will be extremely incredible. Also, obviously some instructional class for the staff. Celine experience was extremely extraordinary and there is nothing to talk about. I wish them to proceed in that manner. The experience we got during these reviews was one of the best. We were partaking in the process as a customer’s as well as nearly as experts who can see nearly everything in the store. On account of Ozzy Monaco for an incredible course.

Two Personalities in My Last Duchess :: My Last Duchess Essays

Two Personalities in My Last Duchess The sonnet My Last Duchess is about a ground-breaking Duke, and his delightful, coquettish spouse who has two distinct characters, one such was life and the other was the woman in the work of art. The sonnet starts what's more, closes with him grieving the loss of his perished Duchess, however from the way that the relentless Duke talks, he find out about her passing than he leads us to accept. The Duke picks his statement cautiously, when he converses with his companion about the composition of his significant other. He just drops little insights, to his companion about the passing of his Duchess. Which persuades that the Duke executed his significant other, or had somebody to put her to her demise. As the Duke discusses his Duchess, in the first place, he sounds incredibly empathetic and minding towards her. The Duke had an outright love for his Duchess as most married couples do.â He sounded so glad for her and the magnificence that she presented: practically like she was a trophy. Regardless of the entirety of the pride and fervor that he appeared towards her, there was a component of doubt that waited within his brain. The Duchess made the component of doubt that was presented into the marriage. The Duke clarified that his significant other was very coquettish and effortlessly intrigued. The Duke stated, Excessively handily intrigued: she loved whate'er she looked on, and her looks went all over the place. This line is telling about the Duchess, as she was the point at which she was alive. The Duke accepts that his Duchess is a cheat, and that she doesn't attempt to shroud it either. A spouse can tell when his better half is keen on another man, cause she once looked upon him in that manner she is viewing her new male intrigue. The Duchess most likely didn't have the foggiest idea about that her better half was watching her, while she was taking enthusiasm to her darlings. She may have felt that she and her male enthusiasm at the time were separated from everyone else, cause no lady, in that time would have been seen with another man other than their spouses. Given the way that this sonnet goes back to the Duke and Duchess period, so they lived in a good old world. The Duke accepts his better half isn't being devoted to him.

Volcanic Hazards of the Seattle Region Strategic Business - 1100 Words

Volcanic Hazards of the Seattle Region: Implications for Strategic Business (Essay Sample) Content: Firstname LastnameInstructors NameCourse NumberDateVolcanic Hazard of the Seattle Region: Implications for Strategic BusinessIntroductionIn a business environment, a risk is a probability that a business entity will experience reduced profits or loss due to external or internal factors such as prices, competition, government policies or environmental conditions (Investopedia par.1). Among the environmental factors, a volcanic eruption can adversely affect the normal operations of a business through the destructive effects of the ash, lahars, and lava from the eruption which can persist for a long time, leading to massive losses and possible bankruptcy.Seattle is the home to one of the most dangerous active volcanic mountains in the world: Mt Rainier. Although currently dormant, the eruption of Mt. Rainier can be devastating due to the release of massive amounts of volcanic ash, lava, and avalanches consisting of melted rocks and volcanic gases. However, the greatest r isk from the eruption will be the lahars of melted glacial and rock particles which can bury and destroy settlements, properties, and infrastructure (Driedger Scott pars.1-4).Several industries, many of which play a strategic role in the U.S economy such as Weyerhaeuser have significant operations in the Seattle region and can be adversely affected by an eruption of Mt. Rainier. The objective of this paper is to investigate the effects a volcanic eruption and its related hazards on Weyerhaeuser operations in the Seattle region.WeyerhaeuserWeyerhaeuser is a private real estate investment trust that deals in forest products and operates one of the biggest private softwood timberlands in the world. The company manages forests by planting, harvesting and processing trees for wood-based products. It produces a variety of products including paper pulp, trees, engineered timber, and packaging materials, with other operations in the construction of residential houses (Gale par.1).With head quarters in Seattle, Weyerhaeuser Corporation operates several manufacturing plants and manages over million acres of timberlands in the area. Production of wood is the cornerstone of the company and accounts for the largest source of revenue.Effects of Volcanic Hazards on Weyerhaeuser Corporation in SeattleThe volcanic hazards from Mt. Rainier can be due to lahars, ash, and lava flow produced during the eruption.Volcanic Hazards- (USGS n.p)Lahars hazardMt. Rainier is surrounded by massive volumes of glacial ice that can produce a huge amount of lahars. The melting ice from the eruption can produce a cement-like mudflow made up of a mixture of flood waters and rock debris. This mudflow is denser than the river and travels at a faster velocity down the volcano, making it more energetic and destructive (Ball pars.13-14).Lahars can bury and destroy trees, sawmills, logging camps, trucks and other equipment owned by Weyerhaeuser in areas closer to the volcano. The flooding lahars can al so destroy transport and communication channels making it difficult for Weyerhaeuser to communicate to their clients and distribute their products to the market.Destruction of trees and infrastructure by lahars (Jeff np)Ash falls HazardDue to its enormous size, the eruption of Mt. Rainer can produce a heavy cloud of ash consisting of abrasive volcanic particles which can be scattered by prevailing winds to distant places in Seattle. Heavy ash fall can break and destroys trees managed by Weyerhaeuser in the region. The ash can also clog and destroy machinery, pollute water resources as well as induce electrical circuits in the electricity transmission lines, resulting in power loss that will affect the manufacturing operations at Weyerhaeuser (Wilson et al. np).Transportation routes can be covered and visibility reduced by heavy ash fall, thereby interfering with the movements of trees and wood products from the logging camps to the mills and movement of people to and from work. This can result in reduced sales and absenteeism that can translate to reduced revenues to Weyerhaeuser. The company can also incur huge expenses to clean up the volcanic ash from its properties and facilities (Wilson et al. np)Lava FlowLava consists of molten rocks which travel downstream. The massive size of Mt. Rainer can result in an expulsion of large volumes of lava. The lava flow can induce forest fire which can destroy timberlands and logging stations near the volcano that are managed by Weyerhaeuser. With the company depending on the trees as the main source of raw material for wood production, the destruction of the forest can impair the manufacturing of wood products leading to reduced revenues and potential loss (Ball pars.3-4).Destruction of forest and Properties by lava flow (The Telegraph np)Business Risks Faced by Weyerhaeuser in SeattleSeveral factors can affect the economic activities. Location can impact the operations of business with areas experiencing natural disas ters posing a greater threat to the business operations (Davis par.6). In Seattle, the biggest and most unpredictable threat to Weyerhaeuser Corporation is the eruption of Mt. Rainier. The company can suffer from various volcanic hazards which can potentially destroy acres of timberlands, equipment, logging stations and processing plants thus crippling its operations in the region. Relocating to a new location which is free from natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions can help protect the business from such unwanted losses.Another source of business risk Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Seattle is the nature of the business. With forests being the main source of raw material for the company, the business can be at risk if their source of raw material is destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Rainier. The company should relocate their timberlands to other areas that cannot be impacted by the volcano hazards thus en...

Essay on Framers View of the Constitution - 1489 Words

Our history has always been about doing this differently. It has been our desire since the infancy of our nation to create the most uniquely successful geographical brotherhood that had ever been witnessed. This began with the â€Å"city on a hill†, was fueled by the American Revolution, but was culminated by the United States Constitution. Years in the making, the product of a successful war but a failure known as the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution has been the pride and joy of our nation since its creation. However, America has changed much in 235 years. The Internet has come to not only exist but encompass many aspects of our daily life, muskets have made way to weapons that can be hidden in clothes and disperse over a dozen†¦show more content†¦This theory was also carried over into the legislative branch, where the public opinion was foregone in favor of elected and appointed lawmakers (recall that the early Senators were appointed by their respectiv e state’s legislature). Another was the militant nature of their world. Still entrenched in the difficult life of the pioneer era, the Revolution was a sign of a wonderful future but a still exceedingly difficult present, and ensuring the protection of our newborn nation was a huge priority. Though that appears similar to the present-day psychology of a nation at war with terrorists, it is the monumental difference between knowing who was enemy and friend then, and believing anyone can be an enemy today. It is clear that the Framers lived in a completely different world than the modern-day American, but that in and of itself does not prove the obsolescence of the Constitution. The Constitution was inherently designed to last forever. The original Bill of Rights specified freedoms and liberties in a vagueness that, ideally, created a clear-cut definition of any ideological dispute but also left room for evolution. But, were they successful? Is the Constitution a truly timeless document? Integrating Human Rresource Management and Knowledge Management

Question: Discuss about the Integrating Human Rresource Management and Knowledge Management. Answer: Introduction Human resource department is supposed to be of great importance as it helps in evaluating the effectiveness and the efficiency of a particular organization by recruiting the most skilled and experienced candidates within the firm (Fulmer Ployhart, 2013). There are different firms who generally considered their employees to be the vital and valuable asset, but there exists a matter of fact whether modern firm really considers their employees to be the valuable assets. This research paper will help in highlighting that whether the contemporary organization considers their respective employees or staff to be the most important assets or not. Main context In present times, the modern firms are changing their business procedures as per the changing trends as to cope with the outside world. There are different firms who have significantly implemented several latest technologies as to enhance their overall business procedures and therefore, the implementation of these latest and innovative technologies have significantly affected the recruitment of the new employees to the firm (McGuire Brenner, 2015). As per the past researchers, it was found that employees were the one who can bring out the desired elevation in the business procedures and thus, HR department was engaged in providing the maximum benefits that can be provided to them. Furthermore, the change in the current trends and the modern equipment has made to recruit less number of the employees within the firm. The HR departments have also focused on enhancing the use of the latest and the innovative technologies as to increase the effectiveness of the execution of the business procedures (Kapiki Nurgaliyeva, 2015). There have been many changes in order to lower down the costs to the firm. Several strategies have been formulated in order to lower down the cost such as by reducing the benefits of the employees regarding the incentives, payroll benefits, and transaction benefits. The firms proclaiming that the employees are supposed to be their valuable assets takes care of the respective employees in order to bring out the most useful work from them. On the other hand, the effort provided by the employee's critically enhances the execution of the business process to the firm (Mierzejewski, 2014). As per the past researchers, it was found that the benefits provided to the employees helped in improving the performance level of the organization. The benefits are provided to the employees on the basis of their performances in increasing the growth and development of the firm (Rivera PHR, 2015). Therefore, it becomes more important to understand the needs and the requirements of the employees as they are the one which can provide the preferred elevation in the business practices of the firm concerned. As per the changing trends, the needs and the requirements of the companies have changed significantly and thus, it has become more important to focus on recruitin g more potential candidates within the firm. It has been seen that nowadays, the HR department is not only engaged in reducing the cost price to the firm but also to bring up the now talents as to increase the profitability of the firm to a large scale (Gupta et al., 2016). The primary aim of the HR section is to increase the effectiveness of the employees by providing them the desired benefits. Human Resource Management (HRM) is a management process with the help of which the top level managers of a company can effectively able to recruit a right person at the right place in right time. By the help of this HRM, any company can able to measure the working skill and working ability of their employees (Arthur et al., 2016). By utilizing this process, the top level managers of any organization can able to give training to their employees who are newly recruited within the organization. According to several companies, the employees are the valuable assets of their company because if the working ability and efficiency of an employee are increased then it will help the organization to increase the growth rate and also help them to gain more profitability (Tomaskova, 2015). However, in the recent days, the modern companies incorporate more advanced technology within their business process. Due to this reason the HR managers of the modern companies has a tendency to reduce the cost of compensating, hiring and retaining employees. However, the top level managers also have a tendency to optimize the corporate talent pool. The corporate leaders most of the time said that the employees are the most valuable assets of any company (Love et al., 2013). However, for several numbers of people, this statement is an empty and exhausted expression because in most of the companies the managers even do not show any value to their employees. They do not treat their employees as an asset of that organization. However, to compensate the employee well should be the main interest of the organization to maintain the continuous development of the company. In the recent days, the modern companies implement advanced technology within their business process. For this reason, the need for human resource also gets reduced. However, the good employees are not replaced because they are the original assets of the organization who help the company to achieve success and to obtain the organizational goal. Nowadays, the companies replace their employees with those candidates who are most eagerly willing to take the job because their willing power also helps the company to achieve success and also help the organization to develop (Mendoza, 2015). At the time replacing employee the business leaders always hire a skill and talented employee who will be effective and efficient for the growth and development of the company. Those organizations which are consist of several great employees, in that organizations the employees are the most important assets and carries value for that particular organization and those employees are not replaced (Wang et a l., 2012). Those great employees have a great knowledge about the product, process, and systems of that business. Those efficient employees have a clear idea about what is good for the company and what type of issues may hamper the business process of the company. When a great employee leaves the job from one company then this incident also affects the other employees of that organization. They try to find out the reasons that why that efficient employee leaves that job or why the company gives permission to that employee to leave the job. In this case, the question about the valuation of the employees arises in the mind of the other employees and also in the mind of their customers and clients. Employees are the competitive advantage for any company. For this reason, every organization should inform their employees about the organizational goals and the way through which the organization should able to achieve the goal and success. However, in the recent days, the contemporary organizations treat their employees as their valuable assets because they have highly potential, skilled and efficient employees who help the company to achieve their organizational goals and lead a great success within the market (Musteen et al., 2013). In the contemporary organizations, the employees have a great communication skill and also efficient to maintain the client organization relationships which also helps the company to develop in their further future and can able to hold a leading position in the market. Nowadays the companies also take the decision from their employees at the time when the managers and the marketers make a marketing strategy or any strategic plan for the organization. For this attitude of the organizations, the employees feel that they are genuinely included within the daily business of their organizations. As the organizations give a valuation to their employees so they always feel comfortable to share their innovative ideas and knowledge which can able to help in the growth and development of the company. As the employees are belong to the first line of the business so the information and data which are collected from them are very valuable, useful and effective for making any strategic decisions for the organization. Conclusion It has, therefore, urgent to understand the need for the employees as well as that of the firm in order to carry out the best results for the firm. Earlier, it was seen that the employees were treated as to be the vital assets because at that time technologies were less. The paper concludes that in contemporary organizations HR department is engaged in reducing the overall cost of the organization but at the same time, they considered employees to be valuable assets because of the skills, knowledge, and experiences that can bring positive results for the firm. Moreover, the past researchers have also evaluated the fact that the employees can bring the desired elevation in the business practices by their innovative ideas. Finally, it can be estimated that Modern organizations treat employees to be valuable assets for their firm. References Arthur, D., Schoenmaker, R., Hodkiewicz, M., Muruvan, S. (2016). Online Banking and Online Purchases

Introduction Today the internet is largely used in facilitating many business transactions. The development in information technology has enabled the digitization of many operations and therefore, many transactions are conducted online. Among them are online shopping and online banking.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Online Banking and Online Purchases specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This has led to the elimination of the need for human interaction in conducting service transactions. Although the internet has greatly enhanced business processes and made them more efficient, it has serious implications and cannot be fully trusted in conducting business transactions. This paper explores the social, ethical, cultural and legal implications of online banking and online shopping. Online Banking Online banking involves conducting of financial transactions by customers via the internet. This enables them to avoid the time-consuming and costly processes of interacting with tellers and conducting paper transactions. A customer opens an account that is managed online and can be accessed through a username and a password. The account holder can conduct all the normal banking transactions from home such as paying bills and money transfer, provided he/she has access to the internet (Tucci 2011). Many large companies are coming up with online banks mostly because they have low costs compared to traditional banks. This is because unlike traditional banks, online banks do not incur the costs of hiring tellers, renting premises, and the costs that arise as a result of the daily running of the bank. As a result of this, online banks may offer higher interest rates or free conducting of transactions such as checking the account balance, and such benefits may attract many customers. Online banking has various other benefits. It is convenient since the banking websites are available all the time, for 24 hour s each day, and conducting the transactions is very fast. The customers do not have to make long queues as they wait to conduct their transactions as in traditional banks. Instead, they just log into the account and perform the transactions quickly. Moreover, the online banks can be accessed from anywhere in the world. In addition, one website can be used to manage all the customers’ bank accounts (Tucci 2011). Nevertheless, online banking has several shortcomings. The customers must have ICT skills and it may take time to learn how to use the banking sites. In addition, these online banks do not have automated teller machines and withdrawing the money from the ATMs of other banks can cost a lot of money.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? In addition, many people find it hard to trust o nline banking because of security and privacy concerns. People are afraid that they might lose their money to hackers who might get hold of the account details such as the username and the password. They are also concerned that their personal information may be recorded and used for other purposes (Fraser, Fraser and McDonald 2000). Online Shopping Online shopping is the purchase of goods or services via the internet. The customers mostly make payments through credit cards or debit cards. The goods or services are then delivered through shipping, downloading or printing out. The customers log into online shopping websites and view the pictures and read descriptions of the products. Once they identify the goods that they want to purchase, they order for them (Horrigan 2008). Online shopping has several advantages. Firstly, it is convenient since it can be done at any time and place, and all one needs is access to the internet. Traditional shopping requires one to travel long distance s to reach the shop and also the customers can only access the stores during business hours. Online shopping sites also provide all the details and features of the products or services and other information such as instructions for use and customer reviews. Therefore, the customer is able to make an informed choice for the product or service. Online shopping also allows customers to easily compare the prices and features of the goods or services from various stores and therefore choose the most suitable for them. They can also get to choose sites that offer certain benefits such as free shipping of goods (Haugtvedt, Machleit and Yalch 2005). However, online shopping has disadvantages. The consumers face the risk of fraud, getting faulty products or services and other security concerns such as identity theft and phishing, among others. Phishing involves the soliciting of personal information such as credit card information, username or password by a spam mail. In identity theft, an i ndividual steals another person’s personal information and uses it to buy goods or obtain credit. It is also not easy to differentiate between fraud websites and genuine ones. Fraud websites receive money and fail to deliver the products and may even disappear, and it is hard to track them. Most online shopping sites also do not disclose the total cost of the transaction including the cost of shipping, sales tax and duties, among others. Therefore, the customer is forced to pay additional costs which he/she knew nothing about. In online shopping, the customer does not get to see and test the product before purchasing it but relies on the pictures and description given on the website.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Online Banking and Online Purchases specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Therefore, there is no guarantee of the quality of the product because the actual product may be different from the descrip tion given on the website. Another disadvantage of online shopping is that the merchants may use the personal information of the customers for other purposes like telemarketing. Therefore, customer privacy is not guaranteed (Fraser, Fraser and McDonald 2000). Implications of Online Transactions Online transactions have become very popular with customers and a lot of money is transferred every day through the internet. As money is transferred, there are many swindlers hanging around trying to get an opportunity to steal it. Both online banking and online shopping involve conducting of transactions via the internet. Despite the numerous benefits of online transactions, they cannot be fully trusted. The greatest concern for the consumers is online transaction security. Online transactions encourage the use of credit cards to make payments. The customers are not comfortable releasing sensitive information such as credit card details on the internet. Their concerns are justified since in ternet crime is on the rise and without proper security measures, they can lose their money. Customers can ensure the security of their transactions through using passwords that combine both small and capital letters, numbers and symbols, and also changing the passwords regularly to make it difficult for hackers to decipher them. Consumers should also ensure that they use secure websites to transact their businesses. However, even with these precautions, online transactions cannot be fully trusted as the hackers are always devising new ways to access the private information of customers (Bradley 2006). Online shopping and online banking have various legal, ethical, social and cultural implications. Online banking services are governed by the Electronic Funds Transfer Act of 1978 in order to protect online bankers. One of the legal challenges of electronic transactions is determining their validity. One cannot be absolutely sure that the electronic signatures are reliable. Moreover, some websites do not make the terms and conditions of the transaction known to the users and therefore, they enter into an agreement without full knowledge about the risks involved and whether the website is in compliance with the current law (Caudill and Murphy 2000).Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Consumer privacy right is a legal requirement that should be respected. During online transactions, customers are required to give their personal information and are concerned about the security and privacy of such information. Purchasing products using credit cards can avail personal information to telemarketers, market researchers and direct-mail companies, therefore leading to the invasion of privacy. Customers should be made to understand the privacy procedures and policies in place to ensure that their personal information is not disclosed to unauthorized parties or used for other purposes. Some traders use the customers’ personal information for telemarketing or sell it to other agencies. The Data Protection Act of 1998 ensures that the personal information of customers is kept secure (Chung 2007). There are also ethical issues that arise in the conduct of online transactions. Though online transactions are convenient and fast, the internet has created an environment fo r the advancement of unethical behaviour. The ethical implications of online banking and online shopping include the privacy of consumer information, the reliability of the transactions, and security. Information that is sent over the internet passes through very many computer systems and these computers may monitor, capture, and store such information. The activities of online shoppers can be monitored without their knowledge or consent. When online shoppers register for the purchase of certain products or services, their identities and personal information can be captured and used for other purposes. It is unethical for the personal information of customers to be used for other purposes or divulged to other parties (Sembok 2003). Commercial sites can get information that consumers give to a shopping site and use it to market their products and services. These companies then start sending emails to the consumers without their consent. Internet cookies also gather customer informati on secretly. Cookies are files that identify the web browser software of the user and tracks down his/ her visits to that site. Marketers are also using Web bugs to monitor the online activities of users. This is absolutely unethical (Nardal and Sahin 2011). Another ethical concern is reliability of the online transactions. Deceptive practices such as fraud are unethical and reduce the customers’ trust in online shopping and banking. Consumers are also concerned about the security of the transactions. They need to know that their payments are safe and that their banking information is not stolen, leaked or given to any other party (Caudill and Murphy 2000). Online shopping and online banking also have social implications. Conducting transactions online has greatly changed the social behaviour of consumers as people can do it in the comfort of their homes. Therefore, people no longer go out as often as they used to. Consequently, they do not get to interact with others. Face-t o-face communication has reduced and people communicate through the internet. Online shopping can also lead to buying addictions, impulse buying, and compulsive buying. Impulse buying is purchasing products that were unplanned for. Compulsive buying takes over the lives of the shoppers and preoccupies them completely. Online shopping is only a click away and therefore people may be unable to control their shopping habits. With the access to the internet to almost everyone for 24hours each day, these habits can develop and cause problems like overspending, bankruptcy, and broken families (LaRose 2001). Online banking and online purchasing also have cultural implications. They have changed people’s way of life. Most transactions can now be conducted online without having to visit banks or shopping malls. Individuals’ lives have been made easier and more convenient due to the development in information technology. However, people are spending a lot of time accessing the i nternet. Physical interactions have reduced and people mostly relate over the internet (Chung 2007). Conclusion From the above discussion, it is evident that the development in information technology has had a significant impact on the business processes of many organizations. Many operations have been digitized and banking and shopping can be done online. However, online transactions have many shortcomings and cannot be trusted. Therefore, even though information technology has helped to streamline most business operations and made them more effective, the risks that come with it are too many and cannot be ignored. The traditional way of conducting transactions is more reliable and customers need to be extremely cautious when conducting online transactions. Consumers need to weigh both the benefits and risks involved before conducting online transactions. Reference List Bradley, T., 2006. Laziness Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Laziness - Essay Example It may manifest as an unmotivated individual, unreasonable expectations of entitlement, procrastination, manipulation, or simply not doing what should be done. Society is impacted by disrupted production schedules, co-worker animosity, missed work, and the eventual firing of the lazy person. This paper will review some of the current literature in regards to laziness and report the findings as to the cause, effects, and implications of laziness. While there are significant differences in the self-perception of procrastinators and non-procrastinators, research has not shown the cause of these differences. A comprehensive study by Ferrari, Driscole, and Diaz-Morales, reported that, "procrastinators have negative feelings about their actual self-concept faculties and self-presentation tactics", and that "they are not pleased by how they view themselves, similar to the perceptions reported by observers of their behaviors" (120). However, the research did not report whether procrastination was the cause or the effect of the negative self-concept. In two studies that involved Turkish students that procrastinated academic tasks, fear of failure was the main reason cited for delaying a task (Ozer, Demir, and Ferrari 245, 251). This would indicate that a low self-esteem is a cause of procrastination. As long as the victim does not start the task, there is no failure, and they won't be the subjects of ridicule. In addition, women sho wed a greater fear of failure that resulted in procrastination than men (Ozer, Demir, and Ferrari 253). This is in line with the female difference that tends to be more avoidant of fear from an early age. A second reason cited by men for procrastinating, rebellion against control, was not a major reason for female avoidance (Ozer, Demir, and Ferrari 253). In addition to these active procrastinators, some people are passive procrastinators. They are victims of themselves and "do not intend to procrastinate, but they often end up postponing tasks because of their inability to make decisions quickly and to thereby act on them quickly" (Chu and Choi 247). Still, poor self-image and a fear of failure are the main reasons driving both male and female procrastination.Laziness may be quantified by the degree to which a person feels entitled to a reward without regards to their productive output. In workplace studies, it has been reported that "women generally earn less than men and report l ess income entitlement than men do" (Ciani, Summers, and Easter 333). From this point of view, men have a greater expectation of entitlement for the same performance or output. Taken to the logical extension, men would be more likely to have someone support them, a spouse, trust fund, or the system, even though society views them as deviant. This is a classical definition of laziness in regards to work, and may generalize to other areas of a person's life. Ciani, Summers, and Easter report that "today's college students are more selfish, superficial, and narcissistic than ever before" (332). These students have been self-inflated throughout grade school and high school, and they enter college with a sense of entitlement to grades, resulting in grade inflation across the country (Ciani, Summers, and Easter 333). Once again, in the academic setting, men were more likely to feel a greater sense of entitlem

The Role of Business Communication Essay Example for Free

The Role of Business Communication Essay The role of business communication to the profitability of the organization Communication is an integral part of an organization. Communication is required not only for good human relations but also for a successful business. Communication seeks to fulfill the basic functions such as to inform, to persuade and to promote goodwill. Communication involves sharing information, ideas, thoughts, opinions and plans between various parts of an organization. Therefore just giving directives without expecting a response is naive as it requires the attachment of some meaning to the message sent or received. In a large organization communicating effectively still proves to be a difficult task as communication sometimes takes place over a number of channels and so retaining the basic meaning is literally challenging. Communication seeks to inform individuals so that they are more aware of what is necessary in order to perform a task or to function within the organization. Information such as work ethics, production, benefits, safety regulations and training are just some of the things that employees are informed of maintain successful operation of the organizations. This will also help in the decision making process as employees will act on the best information available to them. Likewise, communication helps in persuading individuals to perform at a level that they would not ordinarily do. Managers often use open communication to influence others to perform the tasks required to achieve organizational goals. This open communication allows individuals to freely share mutual experiences, preferences, likes and dislikes. It also enables managers to create a climate for motivation, that is, a manager’s ability to influence the desired behaviour for performance depends on his ability to effectively communicate with his direct reports and staff at all levels. Communication also enables people to learn how they are doing at their jobs and how performance is being measured, as this is the heart of employee performance appraisals. Communication is necessary to attain managerial function. One such function is promoting good will. Many companies dedicate a whole department for this purpose while others just has one individual. Companies tend to be vigilant this area due to the tax benefits as well as a means of advertising as this goodwill helps in protecting their corporate image. By doing so they advertise a lot, give a way grant, gifts and other benefits to needy persons and shelters in and around their communities as well as on a national scale. For example Bank of Nova Scotia, Sandals and Courts just to name a few. Many managers have come to realize that having an open and effective communication can help in accomplishing organizational goals and objectives. Employees who are properly informed and are able to express themselves without having to go through the chain of command will be more motivated to produce. Both organizational and personal goals can be achieved.

Terrorism: Guantanamo Bay Detention Center Essay -- Guantanamo Bay, Cu

Detainees held in Guantanamo Bay Detention Center located in Cuba are not only potential terrorists, but are also potential threats to our country, families, and loved ones. Detainees have been stricken of their rights to due process and a fair trial in compliance to George Bush enacting the USA PATRIOT Act, after the September 11th bombings. Guantanamo bay should not be shut down, because the detention center allows us to prevent future attacks to the country, question and gain high value intelligence from terror suspects, and also the island naval base houses some of the most lethal terror threats to the United States. Studies conducted by the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation in â€Å"Leaving Guantanamo, Policies, Pressures, And Detainees Returning To The Fight† show that after September 2011, the U.S. government believes that at least 27 percent of former Guantanamo Bay detainees were confirmed or suspected to or have been engaged in terrorist activities (Leaving Guantanamo). The detainees are very dangerous and with the increased hatred for the U.S. as a result of the detention of terror group members, the U.S. cannot afford to give up such high value intelligence. Edwin Meese from CNN.com in his article titled: â€Å"Guantanamo Bay prison is necessary†, puts the value of some detainees into perspective; detainees such as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was the architect of the September 11th bombings, is housed in solitary confinement and is under questioning (Meese 1). Not only are the detainees dangerous, but also they are insurgents with an increased awareness of our detention center, and terror group activities have risen in groups such as the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Digital Fortress Chapter 13

Tokugen Numataka stood in his plush, penthouse office and gazed out at the Tokyo skyline. His employees and competitors knew him a sakuta same-the deadly shark. For three decade she'd outguessed, outbid, and out advertised all the Japanese competition; now he was on the brink of becoming a giant in the world market as well. He was about to close the biggest deal of his life-a deal that would make his Numatech Corp. the Microsoft of the future. His blood was alive with the cool rush of adrenaline. Business was war-and war was exciting. Although Tokugen Numataka had been suspicious when the call had come three days ago, he now knew the truth. He was blessed with myouri-good fortune. The gods had chosen him. â€Å"I have a copy of the Digital Fortress pass-key,† the American accent had said. â€Å"Would you like to buy it?† Numataka had almost laughed aloud. He knew it was a ploy. Numatech Corp. had bid generously for Ensei Tankado's new algorithm, and now one of Numatech's competitors was playing games, trying to find out the amount of the bid. â€Å"You have the pass-key?† Numataka feigned interest. â€Å"I do. My name is North Dakota.† Numataka stifled a laugh. Everyone knew about North Dakota. Tankado had told the press about his secret partner. It had been a wise move on Tankado's part to have a partner; even in Japan, business practices had become dishonorable. Ensei Tankado was not safe. But one false move by an overeager firm, and the pass-key would be published; every software firm on the market would suffer. Numataka took a long pull on his Umami cigar and played along with the caller's pathetic charade. â€Å"So you're selling your pass-key? Interesting. How does Ensei Tankado feel about this?† â€Å"I have no allegiance to Mr. Tankado. Mr. Tankado was foolish to trust me. The pass-key is worth hundreds of times what he is paying me to handle it for him.† â€Å"I'm sorry,† Numataka said. â€Å"Your pass-key alone is worth nothing to me. When Tankado finds out what you've done, he will simply publish his copy, and the market will be flooded.† â€Å"You will receive both pass-keys,† the voice said. â€Å"Mr. Tankado's and mine.† Numataka covered the receiver and laughed aloud. He couldn't help asking. â€Å"How much are you asking for both keys?† â€Å"Twenty million U.S. dollars.† Twenty million was almost exactly what Numataka had bid. â€Å"Twenty million?† He gasped in mock horror. â€Å"That's outrageous!† â€Å"I've seen the algorithm. I assure you it's well worth it.† No shit, thought Numataka. It's worth ten times that. â€Å"Unfortunately,† he said, tiring of the game, â€Å"we both know Mr. Tankado would never stand for this. Think of the legal repercussions.† The caller paused ominously. â€Å"What if Mr. Tankado were no longer a factor?† Numataka wanted to laugh, but he noted an odd determination in the voice. â€Å"If Tankado were no longer a factor?† Numataka considered it. â€Å"Then you and I would have a deal.† â€Å"I'll be in touch,† the voice said. The line went dead.

Essay about Macbeth - 2578 Words

The Shakespearian tragedy, Macbeth has been said to be one of Shakespeare’s most profound and mature visions of evil. In Macbeth we find not gloom but blackness, a man who finds himself encased in evil. Macbeth believes that his predicaments and the evils that he commits are worth everything he will have to endure. In spite of this towards the end of the play he realizes that everything he went through, was not worth the crown, or the high price he had to pay of losing his wife, and finding himself alone. Macbeth is shown as a kind and righteous man in the beginning of the play. He is the Thane of Glamis, and a brave warrior among men and is highly regarded by the king of Scotland. All these traits make Macbeth great. Conversely, several†¦show more content†¦3 120-125) Banquo’s warning is lost on Macbeth and Macbeth becomes so caught up in the contemplation of his own future, he loses consciousness of what is right and what his wrong. His beliefs, and his morals seem to be in all the wrong places. Macbeth’s thoughts turn to how the witches’ prophecies can be made good; he wants to give fate a little push. Only murder, he realizes will help him gain the crown and sit on the throne. To kill Duncan would have to be the only way and at first this thought seems horrible to him. â€Å"Whose horrid image doth unfix my hair, And make my seated heart knock at my ribs Against the use of nature? Present fears are less Than horrible imaginings. My thought, whose murder is yet but fantastical, Shakes so my single state of man.† (Act 1, Sc.3 135-142) However, after this contemplation about murdering Duncan, Macbeth decides that maybe fate itself will bring the crown to him. â€Å"If chance will have me king, why Chance may crown me without my stir.† (Act 1, Sc. 3 144-146) Just as Shakespeare would have it, to make for a good play, Macbeth’s hopes are dashed when Duncan names his son, Malcolm, Prince of Cumberland – a title, which carries with it the succession. At this point Macbeth is infuriated. Duncan’s only intension of repaying Macbeth was by going to stay at his castle overnight.Show MoreRelatedMacbeth : Macbeth 1411 Words   |  6 PagesPeter Klimek Mrs. Moeller Macbeth Rough Draft 3/7/16 Ambitionz Az Macbeth Macbeth is a character in a play by Shakespeare with a tragic flaw.
